Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) - The Process

1st CHOOSE an issue to address.

Rate it on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 as the lowest possible distress and 10 the highest.

KC = Karate Chop area (using 3 or 4 fingers, tap along outside edge of other hand or tap the sides of both hands together)

Sore Spot  = K27 area, usually tender to touch - see above - approximately where fingertips lie above heart when your pledging allegiance to the flag on left side & same on right.

Step #1
The Set-up: While tapping on the karate chop point (side of hand) or rubbing the Sore Spot - repeat three times, out loud, this affirmation: "Even though I have this…….(insert the issue- for example ("sadness or stress")…, I deeply and completely love, accept & forgive myself".

Step #2 The Sequence: Tap about 5-7 times on each of the following energy points 1-10 (while repeating a small reminder phrase ex. "This sadness" or "This problem".)  Often time you will sigh or yarn, signaling you that you have releaed the tension & stress.  To enhance that, take a large breath and then release it, feeling the tension flow from your body, right down your back.

1. EB = Beginning of either Eyebrow (tap on inside end of eyebrow, nearer nose)


2. SE = Side of each Eye (tap on bone at corner of eye)


3. UE = Under the Eye (tap on bone under eyee about 1" below)


4. UN = Under the Nose, (tap above upper lip)


5. Ch = Beneath lower lip (tap at crease of Chin)


6. CB = Beginning of either Collar Bone (end nearer throat) Place your fingers on your collar bone (about an inch on either dise of where a man would knot his tie).  Then roll your finger down so the top of your fingers are touching the bottom of the collarbone.


7. UA = Under either Arm (tap about 4" below armpit - even with nipple (for men) or in the middle of the bra strap for women.) 

8. BN = Below Nipple or Under Breast (Liver Point) this point is 2-3" under a man's nipple, or undera a womans breast, and slightly to the outside.

New Points - Not on Chart

9.  W = Inside of Wrist  (line where hand meets arm - just tap wrists together)

10. H = Top of Head  in the center of skull

Step #3 Do several rounds if necessary - When issue is 3 or less.  Use the Set up phrase of ; "Even though I still have some of this _______ (your issue)"  I choose to let it ot  (or elimiane it) and I deeply accept who I am."  Repeat tapping Points again use a reminder statement of "remaining _______ (your issue).  Do the second round saying "I choose to let this go at each point.  On the thrid round alternte "remaining issue"  with I choose to eliminate it completely."

Repeat the entire Sequence (Step#3 above) as needed. (Make note of any other aspects come up & write down)

Re-rate yourself on a scale of 0-10 to see where you stand and continue if needed.

Step #4  9 Point Gamut - We use this when your issue is down to a 1 or less but not quite gone.  The Gamut finished the issue and balances the brain at the same time.  The gamut point is on the back of either hand 1/2 inch behind the midpoint between the knuckles at the base of the ring finger and the little finger.  If you draw an imatinary line between the knuckles at the base of the ring and little fingers and consider that line to be the base of an equilateral triangle whose other sides converge to a point (apex) in the direction of the wrist, the gamut point would be locatate at the apex of the triangle.

First tap on the below finger points repeating issue-

1. Th = Thumb (tap outside side of thumb near base of nail)


2. IF = Index Finger (tap side next to thumb, near base of nail)


3. MF = Middle Finger (tap side nearer thumb, by base of nail)


4. BF = Baby Finger (tap side nearer ring finger, by base of nail)

Next tap on Gamut Point - Back of hand between the bones of the pinky & ring finger

The 9-Gamut Procedure: You must perform 9 different actions while tapping the gamut point.  Continuously tap on the Gamut point (located on the back of the hand, about an inch back from the knuckle of little finger & ring finger) while performing each of the following actions:

Eyes Closed

Eyes Open

Eyes looking down hard Right

Eyes down hard Left

Roll the Eyes in a Circle clockwise

Roll the Eyes in a Circle counter-clockwise

Hum two seconds of a Song (Happy Birthday)

Count to 5 out loud

Hum two seconds of a Song (Happy Birthday)

 

*Note - The order of the tapping points in not important.  If you miss a point, just go back and pick it up.  You may tap with either hanad or both (preferred).  Furthermore, some of the points listed above (top of head, wrist and liver) are not used by some practitioners nor included in the basic EFT manual.  However, I feel it is important to include these points.
